QQ’s Eight Random Facts
Serenity and Ana tagged me, and here I am, fashionably late!
1. I was born deaf in one ear. Not a big deal to live with and I have never known any different. It does become frustrating in large, crowded situations but I make do and friends quickly learn to stay on my “right” side. I am thankful for the one working ear that I do have and regardless of my partial disability, music has always been a major part of my life.
2. Last Spring I took a huge leap of faith and moved 10 hours from the tiny state of Connecticut that was home for all 30.5 of my years. I was the first member of my family (immediate and extended) to move from the area. Several reasons (none bad) led me to that choice, but ultimately it was the prospect of love that gave me the strength to actually go through with it.
3. I quit college to work at an animal shelter. Money wasn’t important to me; doing something meaningful and rewarding was. I stayed for 10 years until corporate bullshit made it’s way in and tore apart the family atmosphere we had built. I now work at an animal hospital, often missing my old career, yet thankful to not take home quite as much heartache every night like I used to.
4. I am adopted. My RL parents were teenagers who did the unselfish deed of realizing that someone more mature would offer me a better life. My adoption officially went through at 5 months of age, so my adoptive parents are the only ones I know as Mom and Dad. Beyond simple curiosity of what my biological parents look like and what became of them, I do not have a desire to find them. If I did though, I would thank them for giving me to two of the most wonderful people in the world.
5. I put ketchup on scrambled eggs and Philly cheesesteaks. And I use a knife to cut soft things such as pancakes and waffles. I also do not like foods touching other foods on my plate; I would use a different plate for each food in a meal if it wouldn’t make me look completely insane.
6. I had dinner with heavy metal singer King Diamond (my favorite for the past 16 years) in 1997. He was quite amusing, very cordial, and drinks milk with dinner. His Danish accent and bright blue eyes are to die for, and he carries more black eyeliner in one bag than every girl in SL combined.
7. I was bitten by a brown recluse spider; the only other venomous spider in the US besides the black widow. The damn things were not even native in New England which is where it happened while I was camping. I have a lovely scar below my knee about the size of a half-dollar coin.
8. Finally, as much as I am the tomboy, roughin’ it, anti-pink chick; I sometimes want to be the doted-on, spolied girly-girl too. Sometimes. But mainly, simple things make me happy, like getting to watch Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, foliage drives and cuddling on the couch.
