Things to do while farming

•February 11, 2008 • 4 Comments

Picking out outfits, obviously.  Outfits to go with pigs, outfits to go with horses, barns, rakes, turnips… the possibilities are quite endless.  I was in with Daisy mucking out and got all filthy and smeared in poo (except the hat of course, mustn’t get that dirty), and so with the Daisy’s help and some amount of reluctance to sit down on the hay bare bummed again, I came up with this farmy little number.

The top is what the outfit is all about and it’s very sculpty and lovely and drapey and just generally dayum fine!  Plus it was a pressie from Kitty Lalonde who I’m sure is now deeply regretting giving it away (Cubic Effect isn’t the cheapest shop on the grid), so nyah to her.   Slurls and stuff like that after the cut, plus…

…..we have a Rummage Box fan! YAY!

GLAM SL Launch Party: 2/9/08

•February 11, 2008 • 6 Comments

WARNING: Photo-intensive post!

glam_foyer

I was lucky enough to be invited to the launch of GLAM SL Magazine yesterday and treated to what was hands-down the most impressive fashion event I have ever attended.  It wasn’t just another show, it was an entire production!  Press conference, live entertainment, most true-to-life runway show you can imagine, all followed by an after-party which I sadly had to skip.  While it’d be extremely difficult to consistently run shows such as this one, ladies and gentleman, the bar has been raised.

glam_stage

It was beautifully choreographed and very fast-paced, sometimes making it hard to take pics but oddly it almost added to the excitement of it all.  Even with up to 80+/- in the sim most of the guests were prim-conscious per request and were able to keep their hair and shoes on.  I had almost zero problems rezzing the models and outfits, except for the occasional Ruth’s and one big ol’ crash.  Considering I was snapping humongous, high-res pics the whole time, I can’t complain.

Pics in chronological order by designer and special apologies to Adam Soler of Lookr…it was at the beginning of his portion that I crashed, and by the time I logged back in and rezzed up again they were on to the next designer :-(

Heart Stopper

•February 9, 2008 • 1 Comment

So valentines day is nearly upon us *sighs*. Already the fashion feed is heaving with outfits to wear to seduce/steal/sexulate your man. But hang on a sec, not all of us have men, and not all of us want to particularly want to seduce men. What if you want to go stomping about weilding a desert eagle and popping a cap in the arse of anything that moves (God I love PMT).

Well fortunately I am here to help you strike fear into the testes of any man who dares to cross you path on the day of love and mush and ickyness.

Firstly you need to tool up. The most creamable guns I have found on the grid have to be made by Eata Kitty of Breach. From slinky duel wield pistols to a “My guns bigger than your gun” M4. Not only do they blow seven shades of shit out of anything that moves but they look amazing, with incredible detail.

However no good having sexy guns if your slobbing around in your scruds. So next head on down to Graves. Even if you’re not going shootering you should take a peek cos they have wipe clean latex (very useful) with some sweet and not OTT details.

Credits and NOTHING after the cut cos I’m lazy.

Boots & Poses

•February 7, 2008 • 2 Comments

Boots & Poses, and so much more!  Lordy, it feels like a dog’s age since I blogged.  I found time during the past two weekends though to shop and mess with some pics and am finally now getting to show ya’ll.

Both pics feature mix n’ matches I had come up with kinda on the fly, and both were originally born from the LBD Anna Stockings.  Extra inspiration points go to Ana Lutetia of AnaLu, Torrid Midnight of TorridWear, Sai Pennell of Imperial Elegance and the team of ANIMAH, Myllie Writer and Annah Whitfield, for the fantastic poses!

On my trek to ANIMAH I came across the store Naima.  I wandered in, ooh’ed and ahh’ed, grabbed the boot demos with minimal hope of a good fit.  Au contraire, I was shocked at the near-perfect fit and the ease of modding.  MINE!  These thigh-highs are way cool and I especially love the added touch of the flexi-ties off the back which you can’t get a good look at in my pic.  The white leather skirt, also from Naima, was a chance I took.  It’s sculpty and should fit average avies well, while on my slightly thicker shape I have a hard time getting it to stretch to perfection but I still adore it.  It’s also scripted and comes with a great flexi-prim belt.

blog_Naima

More primmy goodness with Cubic Effect’s popular sculptie Knit Jacket and omg Maitreya Dune Boots for moi’ finally!  Story behind these…when sculpties first came out and Onyx made these boots they came nowhere close to fitting my calves and were No Mod.  Wow, am I lucky I ended up in an unrelated convo with her the other day when she knocked me in the head and said “But Queenie, they are Mod now!”  A little bit of stretching to the wide version and voila!  So I “painted” in a little Spring scenery while mumbling something about happy little trees and for a brief moment everything in the world was right again.  Until I realized Paris Hilton had not gained 85 pounds or broken out with an incurable skin disease; it was only a dream.

Life and Times of a Lil’ Black Dress

•January 18, 2008 • 2 Comments

Last weekend was the unveiling of brand new clothes by Alaska Metropolitan of OPIUM Everyday.  If it wasn’t for the fact that she had a wonderful special going on the day of the show–every outfit marked at 100L–I would have easily gone broke.  I gathered five fantastic outfits for 500L and believe you me, you will be seeing them all!  Having just visited her newest store in Le Zoo, a lot of the items are available as separates, many under 100L, so still a deal for the quality.

One of my faves was this L.B.D. (Little Black Dress, if you didn’t know) called “Ami”.  Beatiful and basic on it’s own with scalloped hemline and semi-transparent texture, at the show it included a top from an outfit Alaska is still putting the finishing touches on called “Brigitta”.

blog_OPIUM

Pairing it up with these brand new multi-purpose, oh-so-essential “belts” from Nephilaine Protagonist of PixelDolls.  I want MORE, MORE, MORE of these!  They can be purchased in all layers and have since been released in more color options.

blog_OpiumPD

I heard a smart tip tonight on E!; I think it was from the chick who plays Serena on Gossip Girl (…shuddap!).  The last thing to do before walking out the door: remove one accessory, THEN you are ready to go!  I totally need to remember this as I tend to load on as much as I possibly can.  For this post I tried to keep it simple and let the clothes speak for themselves.

Queen of the Monochrome Kingdom

•January 17, 2008 • 2 Comments

Gotta feel like the queen of something right? LOL

I have issues.  If I am presented with color options, I have to fight really hard to not go with black/gray/white.  On rare occasions I am successful.  On purchasing the Hunting Season outfit from MG Fashion, I failed miserably.  I knew it was an outfit that would receive blog coverage, however my wild guess was that people would be going for the more colorful choices.  I was wrong, since almost every blog post I have seen featuring this primalicious outfit showcased the Charcoal one.  *sigh*  Please believe me, Maria Gherardi offers this in several fab color options!  And speaking of options, there are so many ways to wear this ensemble and Maria is diligent when it comes to including layers.  Yay!  I’m sorry to our readers and Maria, in hindsight I wish I had chosen a different color to show because they are all really wonderful.

Yes, I’m sportin’ a monocle. Something I had wanted in SL forever, and finally found at the Jewelry Expo this past year; and now I see them everywhere.  That’s the way it goes.

Credits and SLurls after the cut and then I am going to climb the nearest mountain and scream bloody murder over this blasphemous picture of Paris. Leave my metal alone!!!! …Told ya I got issues.
